Introduction
The human rights situation in Balochistan continues to be a cause for concern. Balochistan has been the site of ongoing conflict and political unrest, and the Pakistani security forces have been accused of committing human rights violations against the Baloch people. In February 2023, PAANK, the human rights organization of the Baloch National Movement, prepared a report documenting the grave human rights violations committed by Pakistani forces against the Baloch people. The report highlighted cases of forced disappearances, arrests, and military operations that intensified during the month of February. The report calls on international organizations and human rights institutions to hold Pakistan accountable for these crimes and take practical action to address the humanitarian crisis in Balochistan. The ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan underscore the importance of the international community’s attention and action to prevent further escalation of the situation.
Methodology
To prepare this report, PAANK collected information and data from various sources, including interviews with witnesses, victims, and experts, and data from government and non-governmental organizations. The criteria used to identify and verify human rights violations were based on internationally recognized human rights standards and laws.
PAANK encountered several challenges during the data collection process, including limited access to certain areas of Balochistan due to security concerns and the fear of reprisals against those providing information. Despite these challenges, PAANK was able to obtain reliable and verified information through extensive research and analysis.
PAANK used a combination of quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods to present a comprehensive picture of the human rights situation in Balochistan. The data collected were analyzed to identify patterns and trends in human rights violations, and the findings were verified through cross-checking with multiple sources.
PAANK’s report for the month of February 2023 documents the ongoing human rights violations committed by Pakistani forces against the Baloch people. The report highlights the severity of the situation and urges the international community to take practical action to prevent further violations and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
